The Big Issue

Posted in Uncategorized on February 9, 2010 by matthaysom

The piece of writing Hazel and myself wrote together was in last weeks Big Issue.  The title “Solitude of the Pavement” has a two page spread, I’ve been told. Hazel who is a drama teacher, is also planning to use the piece, to produce a play through the homeless charity “Porchlight”. I’ll keep all informed as and when.      Thanks to all.

BIG ISSUE

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on January 12, 2010 by matthaysom

Sometime over the next month, the writing myself and Hazel from the Archbishops School wrote together, will be published in the BIG ISSUE. We are also producing a play called ” The solitude of the pavement” which is the title of the written piece. Please buy a copy as it’s a good read and goes towards a good cause. I will not be posting it on my Blog untill the play has been performed. None of this would have been possible without Hazel’s commitment.
Im very busy at the moment with college and earning qualifications at the local stables called ” The Paddocks”.
So I’ll try and post some poems when possible.
Thanks to all !! Goodbye for now.

Mobile Boxes

Posted in poem on July 24, 2009 by matthaysom

I hate the boxes

that relay messages.

The sounds attack

my mind with lies.

Unable to face me

with spoken passages.

It’s got to the point

I don’t send replies.

All we have are words

at the end, benign.

From hence forth

are you even mine.

Undo all the times

I ask you to dine.

I’d rather we sit with

paper, quill, the written line.

Make me a new box

to take me back in time.

To an age of

 banquet and wine.

A feast of friends

and all things fine.

No faceless speech

no time to whine.

There is a tree.

Posted in poem on July 12, 2009 by matthaysom

There is a tree

going nowhere.

It is free.

Bound to the ground.

Rustling through the leaves

music is in the wind.

The shrilling of a bird

the buzz of a fly.

Silent movement

of a cat

catches

my eye.

He wanders

graciously

over with

silent

movement.

He comes

I hope

to say

hello.

Again and again

he rubs his face

against

my hand.

He is instantly

in my

band.

Mankinds road to……

Posted in poem on July 12, 2009 by matthaysom

Western culture  should look

at all it has shaken.

All of nature it has taken.

It is the Shaman that

should be

summoned.

As the dark ones

are closing in.

It’s not what has

gone before.

But what presently

manifests within.

The  Gods

of the

past

have returned

to instruct.

As mankind has

drifted along

heading for

self destruct.

Apocalypse will happen

soon some day.

While men in their

suits

still

count

and

play!
